Lemurs is our Year 4 class. Miss Smith is the class teacher, supported by Teaching Assistant Mrs Dziopa.
The morning session starts at 9.00am until 12.30pm and the afternoon session runs from 1.15pm to 3.15pm.
In a morning, the children are taught the core subjects of Maths and English. During these sessions, the children can work either as a whole class, in small groups, or 1-1 with an adult.
During the afternoon session, children undertake topic related work which covers subjects such as history, geography, science, PE, music and art. These topics change either on a half-termly or termly basis. Additionally, all children have weekly ukulele and French lessons. PE Sessions take place on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings. All children need to bring a PE kit, including pumps or trainers on these days. Library sessions take place on Tuesday during which time children are able to undertake research for their topic work. There is also the opportunity to visit the library during morning play on Tuesdays so that children can change their home lending library book. Children are expected to read at home each evening and should return their home reading diary on a regular basis so that it can be monitored by the class teacher. Homework is given out on Friday afternoon and includes a list of spellings to be learned as well as a maths and /or English activity. Homework books should be returned on Tuesdays.
The children in Lemurs class have regular educational visits which may vary according to the topic being studied. In addition all children in year three and four have a day visit to Cliffe House during the summer term.
