Owlets is our Nursery class. Mr Myers is the class teacher, supported by Nursery Nurses Miss Black and Mrs Balmforth .
The morning session starts at 8.45am until 11.45am and the afternoon session runs from 12.25pm to 3.25pm.
In the Owlets, the children have two short carpet sessions each day, focusing on phonics, speaking and listening skills, stories, Maths, Music and the early stages of writing. They also have a weekly PE session in the dance studio.
The children access all areas of provision to engage in child initiated play and adult directed focus activities. The areas are planned for using the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
The children are free to access the outside area for most of the day – learning doesn’t just take place indoors!
The children take turns to do Forest School activities with Mr Williams. Mr Bass, one of our gardeners, supports planting and growing activities. As well as using our extensive grounds, the children make use of local woods.
In Foundation, we celebrate the children’s achievements in our own Golden Assembly on Thursday Morning at 11.30am and in the Afternoon at 3.10pm. We invite the parents of the children who will be getting a ticket to share in the celebration.
The children follow a topic-based curriculum, very much focused on learning through play. The children may work as a whole class, in small groups, or 1-1 with an adult. They enjoy many educational visits around the local area and further afield.
Parents are welcome to come along for our Friday Drop-In sessions at 9.30am until 11.30am and 12.25pm until 3.25pm.
