Our 'Eco' School
Already our school has won the ‘Greenest School in Yorkshire’ accolade (as seen on TV!) alongside various prestigious awards, including The Kirklees Arthur Halliwell (Memorial) Sustainable Schools Award 2010, Eco Schools Green Flag in 2012, 2014 and retained in 2016. As well as the building’s celebrated energy-saving and environmentally friendly features, we have an active Eco Council made up of representative pupils and a thriving outdoor Learning Environment comprising a pond, growing areas (greenhouse, raised beds), wildflower meadow and woodland. Our school is committed to energy efficiency, waste reduction and recycling, to wit the Biomass boiler, rainwater-flush toilets, wind turbine and photovoltaic panels. We endeavour to spread the green message through the curriculum, through good practice (setting an example) and by involving the community in our crusade. Most of our Eco school work is carried out by Mr Bass and Mr Williams.
|We provide a stimulating, high tech and exciting learning environment that responds to each child’s needs and enables them to fulfill their potential.
